What is the correct "job creation" variable in labor search-matching?

In labor search-matching I have seen that some authors talk about “job creation” (as a variable with dynamic behavior), but so far I’ve failing in how should I obtain this variable from the ones in this framework.

I firstly thought that it could be just the vacancies v_t, but I’m not sure since then I thought it also might be the matching function itself M(v_t,u_t), since actual employment relationships come from it.

What would be the adequate variable for “job creation”?

I guess you need to specify whether you are talking about created job openings that firms would like to fill (vacancies) as opposed to actually filled jobs (the result from the matching function). Depending on the context, both may be sensible choices.
