Simult_ basic and applications

Hi all,

I am very new to simult_. I have been reading threads related to the topic but I have several (basic) questions I hope you could help clarify:

  1. Say, if I have a permanent increase in a tax rate and I want to incorporate uncertainties along the transition path, do I use simult_ ?
  2. When do one consider using simult_ specifically? What are some applications for simult_?
  3. Is there any documentation for simult_ which I can consult on?

Thank you sm in advanced!

Dynare internally uses simult_.m to run the simulations required for (G)IRFs in stochastic models. Calling it yourself gives you flexibility in the setup you want to simulate.

Two examples are pure news shocks, i.e. two shocks happening at different times, see DSGE_mod/RBC_news_shock_model/RBC_news_shock_model.mod at master · JohannesPfeifer/DSGE_mod · GitHub
and state-dependent GIRFs, see DSGE_mod/RBC_state_dependent_GIRF/RBC_state_dependent_GIRF.mod at master · JohannesPfeifer/DSGE_mod · GitHub

Thank you for the clarification, as always! I guess am not new to simult_ anymore then . I was a little perplexed when other threads begin to discuss topics related to stochastic steady states and all.

Ps. to others who got confused like me, I find this thread particularly useful:

(Ps of ps I flagged the thread by mistake, alpologise for that )
