Dynare labeled as trojan

I’ve been trying to install Dynare 6.3 but my antivirus keeps deleting the .exe claiming it is infected with a trojan. I am not sure if that is normal and whether or not I should try to turn off my antivirus before installing it. Any help is appreciated, thanks

Yes, but I am not sure that alone will help. It may be the case that the antivirus keeps deleting the exe as soon as you call it. Maybe you can add it to the whitelist.
Can you provide more detail? What Antivirus program is it? And what is the Trojan signature is has supposedly found?

Thanks for your response, I’ll try adding it to the whitelist.

My antivirus is AVG, and it flags the .exe file as infected with “FileRepMalware [Trj]”, which it describes as:

Trojan Horse: this threat disguises itself as something else (for example, an image, a document, or another file) in order to trick you into running it and infecting your device.

Also, before that even happens, Windows throws up this warning:

Windows protected your PC.
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

After I click “Run anyway”, I get another message saying that Windows doesn’t have access to the file, possibly due to permission issues. Right after that, AVG jumps in and blocks it.

The Windows SmartScreen warning is common. The rest is a false positive by the Antivirus program (and a good argument against additional antivirus software on Top of the built-in one by Microsoft).
