Dear Johannes,
I see. It looks like there are conflicting paths because I am setting the path for 4.5.1 and then another one for v4 which comes with the training materials. So, now when I proceed like this:
">> addpath C:\HKMA_Training\Software\iris
">> addpath c:\dynare\4.5.1\matlab instead of (>> addpath C:\HKMA_Training\Software\dynare_v4\matlab)
">> irisstartup
and then
">> dynare soe1
it does not run.
Best,
You will probably have more chance if you stick to what is described on the page. Remove all the versions of Dynare other than dynare_v4 distributed on Doug’s webpage. The same for IRIS, do not use a more recent version than the one distributed on the website. Then it should work. The only problem is that these versions are full of bugs that have been fixed later. But maybe it’s not an issue if you just need to reproduce the results obtained in 2009 with this mod file (and the errors).
Best,
Stéphane.
Thanks Stéphane. By remove do you mean uninstalling all the versions other than v4. Or is there any command which allows temporarily removing and then restoring when needed.
Best
If you are using Matlab with the GUI, simply go to the “Set Path” button (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/29193897/how-to-set-path-in-matlab) and remove the paths to the newer versions. You don’t need to uninstall them.
rmpath command should do. And then display the Matlab path (with path) to check that you purged all other Dynare versions (same with IRIS).
Thank you all for your kind support. Yes as Stéphane pointed out, this version on Doug’s website is very obsolete. How can one has access to the latest version? Is it open access?
Thanks
You can code the model from a recent IMF working paper. I think there is an example in Volker Wieland’s database of models (http://www.macromodelbase.com). There is nothing special in this model, the only difficult part is the data. Alternatively, if you can spend tens of thousands euros a year there is a network of institutions (I have lost the website address) producing forecasts with this model (I don’t think they distribute the model freely unless policy has changed).
Best,
Stéphane.
