# Read-only matlab files of Dynare 4.4.3 for Mac

I use Dynare 4.4.3 for Mac OS X. As I want to do IRFs to 1% shocks, I need to  
put “options\_.relative\_irf=1;” before the estimation, then modify a line in  
the file: dynare/4.4.3/Matlab/PosteriorIRF\_core1.m, but this file is read only,  
and doesn’t allow me to make the change. However, my co-author, who is  
using Dynare 4.4.3 for Windows does not have this problem.

Can anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue? Many thanks!

You have several options:

Option 1  
[ul]_]Download the source code from here: [github.com/DynareTeam/dynare/bl … RF\_core1.m](https://github.com/DynareTeam/dynare/blob/4.4.3/matlab/PosteriorIRF_core1.m)/_:m]_]Make the changes you want and drop it in /Applications/Dynare/4.4.3/matlab/_:m][/ul]

Option 2  
[ul]_]Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)/_:m]_]Type:`chmod a+w /Applications/Dynare/4.4.3/matlab/PosteriorIRF_core1.m`/_:m]_]Then edit it as usual/_:m][/ul]

In any event, it would be helpful to me if you:  
[ul]_]Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)/_:m]_]Type:`ls -la /Applications/Dynare/4.4.3/matlab/PosteriorIRF_core1.m`/_:m]_]Send me the output/_:m][/ul]
