Fellow macroeconomists,

Working with large models in Dynare can be tedious and time-consuming. I remember spending 30 minutes hunting down a mismatch between variables and equations or renaming a variable across hundreds of lines of code.

With modern editors like VS Code now offering great MATLAB support, I built dygnosis: an LSP and MCP server for Dynare. What it currently brings to your workflow:

- Real-time diagnostics: Flags syntax errors, undeclared variables, and preprocessor issues as you type without waiting to run MATLAB/Octave.

- Model overview and editor tools: Easily navigate and edit the model.

- Semantic diffing: Compares different .mod versions (or Git revisions) at the syntax level, so you focus on actual model changes.

- AI assistant: Let the DSGE monkey handle the tedious work, translating equations from paper into code.

It is still early-stage and actively evolving, so expect a few rough edges. If use Dynare, I would love for you to give it a spin, break it, and share your feedback.
